Under $2K for 2 Weeks in Morocco!

Morocco was truly an incredible Country. You can go from the Sahara Desert to the Atlas Mountains in a few hours! There is just so much to see in this incredible North African country. I am going to share my two week itinerary and my break down of how much money I spent!

Our two week itinerary:

Travel day- Flight from MIA-JFK-MAD-RAK. Many delays and our luggage got lost :(. TIPS- pack snacks and pack some patience (lol).

DAY 1- Casablanca for one day.

Just our luck, we lost our luggage and had to stay in Casablanca for a night. If this happens to you, I recommend staying at the Atlas Sky Hotel! It included a shuttle to the airport and was very luxurious and comfortable.

Total cost= $122.31 (breakfast included)

DAYS 2-3 Travel to Fes. Fes is a northeastern Moroccan city often referred to as the country’s cultural capital! Here we stayed in a beautiful Airbnb located in

the heart of Fez. Fez is 400 years old! It was carefully restored over the period of two years using only traditional materials and craftsmanship. The house/ Airbnb we stayed in has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an indoor fireplace! This is one of a few places in the area that has this feature. Total cost= $77 per night.

DAYS 3-4 Chefchaouen (blue city)

Chefchaouen, or Chaouen, is a city in the Rif Mountains of northwest Morocco. It’s known for the beautiful blue-washed buildings of its old town. This Airbnb is in the heart of

the town's ancient quarter with easy access to all of Chaouen's attractions! I can't even begin to explain how INSANE the view was from the rooftop of this Airbnb.

Total cost= $71 per night.

DAYS 5-8 We headed back to Fez for 1 night because we were going to do a 3 day tour! The tour leaves from Fez and costs $300 per person. This includes the private bus, food, a luxury Sahara desert camp stay and more!

The tour took us to all of these locations:

  • Ifran- Located in Morocco’s Middle Atlas Mountains, they call this place a little Switzerland. It’s known for its alpine-style architecture and nearby ski slopes and forests.

  • Errachidia & Merzouga aka the Sahara Desert. Here we stayed at a beautiful desert camp! This was my favorite part of our whole trip!

  • Dades valley- The Dadès Gorges are a series of rugged wadi gorges carved out by the Dadès River in Morocco.

  • Skoura- One of the few palm groves that is still inhabited and cultivated in Morocco. Here we stayed in a beautiful castle like hotel and were hosted by a lovely French couple who moved to Morocco to run this hotel.

  • Ouarzazate- Here we visited Atlas Film Studios, the largest film studio in the world! Film productions often pick Atlas to film at because of its dramatic vistas, massive open space, and cheap labor. Some movies that were filmed here were The Mummy (1999), Star Wars (1977), and even Game Of Thrones!

  • Tizi N Ticka- Tizi n'Tichka is a mountain pass in Morocco. We traveled through the High Atlas mountains! We even had a pit stop at a Restaurant passing through that is known for its pizza.

Sahara Desert Tour

The desert tour is an absolute must do when traveling in Morocco! If I were to ever go back to Morocco I would stay at the desert for at least 3 nights. We only had one night there. The tour brought us to a group of camels just outside of the desert sand dunes and

we rode a camel for about 30-45 min to our camp! There we were greeted and we got to choose our rooms. We literally had the whole camp to ourselves! This stay included dinner, dancing around the fire, a luxury tent that had HOT water and a running toilet, and it also included breakfas

DAYS 9-12 (and ended in Marrakesh for 4 days)

Marrakesh is the most visited place in Morocco! Here you have your local snake charmers, markets in the Medina and even a McDonalds! (lol) This part of Morocco literally had it all.

We stayed in a riad. A riad is a type of traditional Moroccan house or palace with an interior garden or courtyard. This riad is located 10 minutes by car from the Jamaa el Fna

square and 5 minutes from Majorelle garden. There is wifi! The rate is for the whole house and not just a room.

Total cost= $72 per night
